Kris in the Big Apple (Pt. 2) Food!

As you walk down the streets of NY, you come to understand why the United States is a called a "Melting Pot". All the known races in the world seem to be in New York City. Because of this, naturally, various cultures can be seen through many different facets. One way NY seems to express its diversity is through food. From Chinese food to Greek food, all the nations in the world seem to have a restuarant in the city.

These past few days I have been traveling the world in New York, with my taste buds.

My first breakfast consisted of a Tuna Wrap with a Chicken Gumbo at "Guy and Gallard".

Stuffed from breakfast, we skipped lunch to save room for a Mexican dinner at "Zarela's"

I ordered Shrimp with coconut. The spicy coconut sauce also included coconut shavings.

My sister induldged in a Pomegranate Margarita

Breakfast this morning was again soup and a sandwhich at "Daily Soup".

A Manhattan Clamchowder with a Mozzarella Cheese, with peppers, prosciuto, and basil sandwhich (Yum)

On the way back to the apartment we stopped at "Ess-a-Bagel" for some breakfast for tomorrow.

The most tempting cakes I have seen in my life.

Dinner took place at a Greek Restuarant called Niko's. We ordered a Meat Moussaka, Grilled Chicken, and Lamb. I finished off the meal with a Coffee and Chocolate Mud Cake.

I love Japanese food. If I had to choose one country's cuisine to eat for the rest of my life, it would be Japan...

Yea...

For sure...

I think...

I...

Yum...I want more...

Well, after several horrible airline meals, a 2 hour delay in Detroit, and having to put up with an annoying Spanish guy rocking the seat infront of me, I finally made it.

Im in New York City.

And right now it is 2:30 in the morning. I have fallen victim to jet lag...

Although the delay in Detroit was a pain, it did provide me with an amazing view of Manhattan at sunset. As the plane passed Liberty Island, the Labyrinth of Skyscrappers came into view with the sun projecting it's late orange afternoon light upon them.

It's the strangest feeling. Really indescribable. When I see landmarks such as, the Statue of Liberty, or the Empire State building. Its like I finally realize that these famous places exist. Sure, I have seen them in the movies, on TV, and in all kinds of books and pictures, but when I see them with my own eyes they come alive in my mind. They are finally real.

My view of the NYC skyline disappeared as my plane landed in Laguardia airport. My sister and her husband were there to pick me up. It was nice to see familair faces.

And now I am sitting infront of my sister's laptop, listening to music, trying ignore that fact that I am wide awake.

Can't wait to go out for a breakfast bagle and coffee...

Oh well, a few more hours.
