FAHRENHEIT 9/11

On Friday I watched one of the most controversial movies in recent history, Micheal Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11. Upon exiting the theater I decided the one phrase I would say if anyone asked me how the movie was,

"It's an important movie".

It is an extremely important movie that has only one sole purpose; to get Bush out of office. I found out some shocking facts during the two hours and my negative views on the Bush admistration were greatly reinforced. But the movie is pure propaganda, but as Louis said, "It's GOOD propaganda". So as a documentary, it had no flow and no pacing. It was two hours of critizing Bush's motives mixed in with powerful images of dead Afghani and Iraqi men and women, and sadly children. When I walked out of the theater I felt sick. Not sick from the gruesome images of the dead and the wounded, but from the whole current situation of the United States. It was extremely depressing.

Having said that, there were a lot of funny (but scary) moments in the movie, and with re-elections coming up, the movie was released at a perfect time. I really think this movie has opened the eyes of many people and I hope this "Awakening" will have an effect on votes.

Like I said, this is an important movie, and I am very glad I watched it. It's something that will go down in the history books.

If you have seen it, please leave a comment! (Or even if you haven't seen it!)

Oss kris,
First of all I want to thank you for asking me to the movie.
The movie was just MUCH MUCH better than I thought, mainly because I didn't want to watch this movie before. I thought it was going to be 2 whole hours of criticizing and bashing, and it was, but in a complete different way. It was very well-made with very convincing arguments and examples... this would definitely be a 7 out of 7 essay.

I still don't understand why it won the Canne, but it sure was "an important movie" (roche, 2004).

If I reluctantly said No, I wouldn't have understood some of the things that was going on behind America, so once again, thank you.

It is an important movie.
Shocking, really. Extremely shocking.
But I'm happy that I saw the two hour documentary; many of the events and facts shown were things i didnt know. My heart felt heavy when i got out of the theater, and both tackman and i were mecha quiet.
however, if it wasnt for moin, keisuke, and tomo, my dinner wouldv been really depressing. (talking about IB and SAS and ISB and others) A very humorous dinner conversation, i bakushoed so much.
Bush and AlQuaeda relationship was bikkuri mono.

Hmm...your right, that movie is important. It really frustrates me how some Americans are so blind in believing that in order to be "patriotic" they should blindly follow their leader and just support everything they do. If you question otherwise, you aren't American. But, really, isn't it the other way around? The whole point of the government is to serve the people, and as "the people" we need to ensure that the government is going to support us the best way possible, and not piss off the world, and not fool the citizens of the country with lies and a secret agenda. Alrighty, back to the movie, haha. Although Micheal Moore took some qoutes out of context, he has blatantly stated that he is biased, and that he will do whatever it takes to put Bush out of office, so really, there's no point in people saying "it doesn't show both sides of the story." No sh*t it doesn't. But does Bush whenever he gives his speeches on the progress of the government? Does he ever say "well, I did these things well, but in order to do those things, the american government killed a number of Iraqis in the progress and last year, the richest people in America are the ones that got the tax breaks, and not the common middle class guy."? Hell no. Honestly, no matter what side you are listening to, there will always be a huge bias and propaganda, but in this case, the number of wrongs outweigh the rights by farrrr. Although I'm a huge fan of Micheal Moore, his approach to politics is what's probably turning the "swing voters" off becuase of how pop culture it's all becoming...Well, all I can say is that I hope Kerry kicks ass.

Wow Tiki, thanks for the comment. I know I joke around with you about Bush but I do completely agree with you. Don't worry.

hey Kris,

I think Fahrenheit 9/11 was is the pinnacle of "Bush bashing". Yes it was biased but Moore admitted that so it's not like he was trying to trick anyone. The only thing is supporters of Bush (at least in the US) tend to not go see the movie and avoid it completely. I wonder how many people actually switched to Kerry after seeing the movie. I do hope Bush is voted out though...

Tyler! hisashiburi! Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. I also wonder how many switched, probably not that many...unfortunately.
