Rock

After recovering from the overload of Rock at the Rock Odyssey, I was finally able to digest what I had seen and make some opnions on it. Whenever I make fun of rap, or hip hop, I make fun of the theater, the atmosphere that comes with it, the "What up dawg" stuff, I always think, "they can't be serious..." I always say that rock is real music but after watching many rock bands at the Rock Odyssey I was reminded that rock can be pretty overdone and quite frankly, stupid. I was reminded that rock also has the "they can't be serious..." element. The theater and the atmosphere in rock (I cant believe Im saying this) can be as bad as the ones in hip hop. The following points support this...

Three Things I hate about ROCK

1. The 20 minute guitar solos
When the guitar solos go on forever and seem to never end. Please! I've had enough! We know you're good at the guitar, get on with the song!

2. The Rock n Roll Preachers
When rock singers start to preach about peace and equality among all human beings etc. I hear enough lectures from my parents and teachers, I payed money to listen to music, not a sermon.

3. The mutliple endings
When the song winds down but then starts again, and then almost ends, and then starts again and again and again. ENOUGH! next song!

I guess every genre can be overdone...

Anyone get what I'm saying or am I just rambling...again...?

11:05 PM

Hey! I've been waiting for your new blog of the day thingy... chotto it's my daily thing to check out your site to see if you've written a new blog.

Yea, I really get what you're saying.
I mean, I don't hate the "What up dawg" stuff of hip-hop, but I guess it's too much.
They're so... "we're family~ I've got all my sisters (or brotherz perhaps) with me!!" kinda atmosphere.

Maa anywayz i also agree with the three things you hate about rock... Well i guess anything can be overdone, and i guess those are the reasons why fanatics love their favorite genre.

In that sense, i bet "pop" is the safest genre... it's too shallow to dig into it.

I MOU MECHA AGREE.
i agree with the first and the third one (since i havnt exerienced the 2nd one).
once i went to an amateur live with my brother, and this band group had a bassist solo for about 10 min. ok, guitar and drums, i get, but BASSIST? shikamo the whole solo was, like, one-pattern....
multiple endings mo its kishoi. im really high and everything so im like "whohooo!" but after a couple of times, i find myself waiting for the end. sonouchi i go "mou eette."
i also dont like it when the guitarist and ppl start banging their guitars against the amps.some ppl get excited by that, but, mecha mottainai toyuuka....guitar itasou (eh).
